Diamond is the largest scientific research facility to be built in the UK for approximately 30-years and will produce ultra violet and X-ray beams of exceptional brightness allowing pioneering experiments to be carried out which probe deep into the basic structure of materials and matter.
For the Diamond to function correctly our earthing installation had to fulfil the requirements for:
- Personnel Protection
- Conducted EMC Control
- Radiated EMC Control
- Protection From Lightning Strikes
via a common bonding network.
This common bonding network consisted of many earthing elements, including hundreds of metres of 50 x 6mm solid copper bar, tinned flexible copper braid, bonding to structural steelwork, structural reinforcing, metal walls, cable trays, all situated within the various Control and Instrumentation Areas, Optics and Experimental Hutches, Booster Rings, Storage Rings, in fact across the whole operational site.
Such an undertaking required a high degree of engineering and installation expertise from our fitting staff coupled with professional support from our management team ensuring that each phase of this complex installation process was successfully completed.
This project reinforces BEST Services Ltd position as a major force in the UK Earthing and Lightning Conductor industry and adds to our long list of prestigious UK contracts.
